German Pressing
Front Three Press
Responsibilities:
1) Left forward - keep right half in your line of sight at all times
2) Right Forward - keep left half in your line of sight at all times
3) Centre Forward - set up in front or slightly off set to the left of the full back to attempt to force them to pass the ball left
Actions:
If they pass right, the left forward works across to prevent the ball going down the line, the centre forward works across to prevent the bal in to the inside channel and the left forward works over toward the middle of the pitch.
As they pass left, it is the Centre Forwards decision of when to press. When they go, the whole team must react.
The centre forward should split the 2 full backs with an arced run. As they do this they are trying to force the full back to pass the ball to the left half.
The right forward steps up on to the left back as the full back releases the ball, to prevent them being able to get their head up.
The left forward comes across to the top of the circle, preventing an outlet across the circle.
The centre forward applies pressure to the full back to prevent an easy out ball.
